Workspace settings: General
Where to find it: Settings → Workspace → General (/settings/workspace, the default tab). Anyone who can view the workspace can open it.
This tab shows your workspace's identity. If you have the right access, it also lets you rename the workspace, transfer ownership, or delete it.
What does the details card show?
A read-only summary card showing:
- Name: the workspace's display name.
- Slug: the URL identifier (
ace.app/[slug]), in monospace. Not editable here. - Created: the month and year the workspace was created.
- Members: the total member count.
To edit the name (write access only), click Edit next to it. The name turns into a text box with Save and Cancel buttons. Save is disabled while the box is empty.
Deletion and recovery banner
If the workspace is mid-deletion or a deletion attempt failed, a banner replaces the normal details:
- Deleting workspace: shown while background cleanup (billing, provider credentials, memberships) is still running. New projects and other changes are blocked during this time.
- Workspace deletion failed: shown if cleanup could not finish. The workspace stays read-only until an Owner retries.
How do I transfer ownership?
Only the current Owner sees this section, and only if there is at least one other member to transfer to.
- A dropdown lists every other member by name and email (Select a member…).
- Transfer ownership is enabled once someone is selected. It opens a confirmation dialog explaining that the selected person becomes the new Owner, the current Owner is demoted to Admin, and only the new Owner can transfer ownership again, delete the workspace, or cancel the subscription. The dialog has Cancel and Transfer ownership buttons.
If there are no other members yet, a note asks you to invite someone first.
Danger zone
Only the Owner sees this, and only when the workspace is not mid-deletion.
Delete workspace requires the workspace to have zero projects first. Delete or transfer any existing projects out of the workspace before this becomes possible. Clicking it opens a confirmation dialog:
- Normal case: "Delete '[workspace name]'?" warns that deletion is permanent, runs in the background, and removes billing and provider credentials before memberships and the workspace itself.
- Retry case (after a failed deletion): "Retry deletion of '[workspace name]'?" explains that deletion resumes from the last completed step.
The dialog buttons are Cancel and Delete workspace (or Retry deletion, which shows a spinner while processing). If a deletion previously failed, the main button reads Resume workspace deletion or Retry deletion instead.
Deleting a workspace cannot be undone. It removes billing and provider credentials, then memberships, then the workspace itself.
Any error from a delete or transfer attempt, for example a request that could not be queued, appears as inline red text below the relevant control.
