Book mode

Knowledge → Learn → Book mode.

Book mode takes the same generated material as Learning Paths and presents it as an actual book: chapters, a table of contents, and a page-turning reading experience, instead of a raw file tree.

Table of contents

The left sidebar is labeled Contents. Each top-level folder in the generated set becomes a chapter: its name is cleaned up for display (no more dashes, underscores, or .md), and every file nested inside it (however deep) is flattened into that chapter's list. Files that live at the very top level, outside any folder, are grouped into an automatic Introduction chapter. Click a chapter's row to expand or collapse it; the count on the right shows how many pages it holds. Click any page to open it; the current page is highlighted.

At the bottom of the sidebar, a small gauge shows your position ("current / total" and a percentage) with a thin progress bar underneath, and the same progress bar runs across the very top of the reading pane.

Reading

The reading pane shows a breadcrumb ("Chapter · page"), the page's title, and its content rendered as formatted text: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, and diagrams if the page includes any. Above a chapter's first heading you will see a small "Chapter N · chapter name" divider so it reads like an actual book. While reading (not editing), the top bar also shows an estimated "X min read".

At the bottom, Previous and Next buttons (each showing the neighboring page's title) let you turn pages in sequence, with a "n of total" counter between them; both buttons grey out at the very start or end of the book.

How do I edit a page?

The same Fix with AI, Regenerate, and edit-toggle controls from Learning Paths appear in the top bar here too, and work the same way: the toggle (labeled Edit / Read here, rather than Edit/View) swaps the page into the rich-text editor (autosaving as you type), Fix with AI opens the instruction-and-diff panel, and Regenerate re-generates the whole book. Unlike Learning Paths, Diagrams, and AGENTS.md, Book mode has no file-management tree; you cannot create, rename, or delete pages here. You can only read and edit what has already been generated (do that kind of reorganizing from the other screens or from Discovery).

If nothing has been generated yet, you will see the same kind of empty state as the other screens: No book content yet, with a Generate book button.

Who can do this?

knowledge:read to read; knowledge:manage (plus a mutable project) to edit, regenerate, or use Fix with AI.
