Inbox
Inbox is your durable, personal record of everything that has asked for your attention. Work assigned to you, approvals and questions waiting on a decision, and updates on things you chose to follow all land here. It lives under Workspace → Inbox in the sidebar, at /inbox. It is scoped to the workspace and project you have selected in the sidebar, the same active-project selector you use everywhere else.
Do not want to leave your current page? A small bell icon in the top header (Notifications) mirrors the same data as a quick dropdown, with the same scope, the same items, and the same "Mark all read".
Two independent things share the page:
- A view switcher (top right) between Personal (your own inbox) and Project Actions (a shared queue of work waiting on any eligible person on the active project, not just you).
- Inside Personal, two lanes: Needs you (things that genuinely require a decision or response from you) and Updates (informational items: things you followed, or work you are waiting on the result of).
Where to find it
- Open Inbox: left sidebar → Workspace → Inbox, or go straight to
/inbox. - Quick peek without leaving your page: the bell icon in the header opens a dropdown with your 6 most recent items and a link to the full page.
- Deep links: other parts of the app (a card, an incident, a pull request) can link straight into a specific Inbox item. The URL carries both the lane (
tab=needs_youortab=updates) and the item id (item=...).
In this section
- Personal inbox: the Needs you and Updates lanes, the list-and-detail layout, search and project filtering, read/unread behavior, and what the detail pane shows for each kind of item.
- Archiving items: archiving one item or everything in view, and the separate Archived list with restore.
- Project Actions: the shared, per-project queue of unclaimed approvals and questions, and claiming one for yourself.
- Notification delivery: the Settings modal for choosing where new personal Inbox items also reach you (Slack, e-mail, in-app banner and sound), and the header bell dropdown.
- Following and awaiting results: how choosing to follow a card, card run, or conversation, or asking to be notified when a run finishes, is what fills your Updates lane.
Who can do this?
Everyone sees their own Personal inbox. There is no permission gate on it; it only ever shows things routed to you.
Project Actions is different: it is shared, project-scoped work, so it only appears (as a tab in the view switcher) when you have the Read issues (issue:read) capability on the currently active project, and only while a project is actually selected. Claiming an action additionally requires Approve issues (issue:approve) on that project. If you can see an action but cannot claim it, you can still open it and act on the underlying card or conversation if your other permissions there allow it.
